Safety precautions for SPB
Smart Power Bench
Power bench for bike diagnostics and tuning (with gearbox)
Safety instructions
- Before you begin using the station, read all the safety instructions.
- Also, comply with the warnings and instructions displayed on the station.
- These safety instructions must be hung up in the vicinity of the Smart Power Bench.
- The station may only be operated by a trained person.
- While operating the SPB, the operator must wear eye and ear protection and wear close-fitting work clothing and solid work boots.
- The station must be in perfect technical condition during use and must be connected to a 230V/12V, 24W power supply.
- Before beginning measurement, always make sure that the measured motorcycle is in perfect technical condition and is securely mounted onto the station.
- The rear portion of the motorcycle must be securely tightened to the SPB by fastening a single strap to the side holes on the SPB. The motorcycle should be fastened securely, preferably by a section of the load-bearing frame, and should stand in an upright position.
- The securing strap must be tightened so as to simulate the operating load and prevent slippage of the rear wheel on the roller.
- Make sure the straps do not touch or come near the exhaust pipe.
- Any loose ends of the securing strap must be fastened onto the strap itself.
- During acceleration measurement, there must be no tyre slippage caused by choosing an inappropriate (low) gear.
- The rear tyre of the motorcycle should be inflated to the maximum permitted pressure specified by the tyre manufacturer.
- The station can only be operated while the following conditions are met:
- there must be no person within 2 meters around the station and 10 meters behind the station other than the technician performing the measurements
- there must be no objects within 4 meters of the station that could be drawn into the station’s air intake holes
- the maximum permitted speed of the rear tyre must not be exceeded
- the maximum design speed of the motorcycle and rpm of the motorcycle engine must not be exceeded
- The maximum permitted speed of the station must not be exceeded:
- 1st gear has a maximum speed of 225 km/h (140 MPH)
- 2nd gear has a maximum speed of 110 km/h (68 MPH)
- Only use a certified fastening strap with a load-bearing capacity of 1,000 kg to fasten the motorcycle onto the station.
- It is necessary to provide proper extraction of exhaust gases out of the measurement area during measurement.
- The station must not be operated if the traffic light is not glowing (or flashing) green.
- It is necessary to monitor tyre temperature during measurement; if tyre temperature exceeds maximum permissible temperature for the tyre set by the manufacturer, measurement must be discontinued immediately.
- Gears on the station may only be shifted if the safety traffic light is flashing green. Flashing green light indicates that the fan has stopped. The roller stopping does not mean the fan has stopped as well!
Safety traffic light (Description)
Exceeding the specified speed is indicated by the red light on the safety set of traffic lights placed in front of the station and always in the operator’s field of vision.
The Orange light indicates a level exceeding 90 % of the maximum speed.
Green light indicates the operating status with the built-in fan rotating
Blinking green light indicates a rotating fan within the permitted speed. In this status it is possible to change load gears of the station (I – II)
Gearbox SPB
- While you are changing gear no: 1 to gear no: 2
- move the shift lever to position no: 2, then turn slowly by heavy roller in any direction until will be gear changed
- you will hear a click of the gears and you will feel much resistance when turning by the roller
- While you are changing gear no: 2 to gear no:1
- just move the shift lever to position no: 1
- no need to turn by heavy roller
